Five-day celebration from August 22 to 26 to feature women entrepreneurs, rangoli and mehendi competitions, traditional attire, poetry, music, Deepdan and cultural programmes

For the Pushkarna community, the final week of August will bring more than a celebration, it will be an opportunity to showcase its culture, traditions, creativity and community achievements. A five-day programme will be organised from August 22 to 26 under the aegis of Pushkarna Pranyas to mark the foundation day of the Pushkarna community, with the Pushkarna Mela emerging as one of the major attractions.
Anil Purohit, associated with the event, said the fair will be held at Pushkarna Stadium at 1 pm on August 22, featuring 53 stalls showcasing commercial products created by women of the community. The stalls will provide women with a platform to display their skills, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit while connecting their products with visitors. Ahead of the fair, a workshop was organised at Dharanidhar Auditorium to brief participating women about the rules and arrangements for setting up the stalls. Organisers explained the arrangements and addressed the queries of the participants. The five-day celebration has been planned to bring together entertainment, cultural expression, literature, education and community traditions. The evening of August 22 will feature traditional songs along with a felicitation ceremony for educational institutions of the community. On August 23, a rangoli competition will be held in the afternoon, followed by a Hasya Kavi Sammelan in the evening, where poets from the community will entertain the audience with their compositions. August 24 will feature a Mehendi Mandana competition, along with the felicitation of litterateurs and journalists who have completed 25 years in their respective fields, followed by a seminar. August 25 will focus exclusively on women with a traditional attire competition, while the evening will feature Deepdan at Pushkarna Stadium, followed by a felicitation ceremony and seminar for advocates above the age of 65. The celebrations will culminate on August 26 with Pushkarna Day, beginning with the worship of Maa Ushtvahini. The day will also feature the traditional dance programme ‘Aaya Sawan Jhoom Ke’, Vedic recitation, a Bhajan Sandhya and community Prasad. Those present on the occasion included Rasbihari Joshi, Advocate Somdatt Purohit, Rajiv Harsh, Jaynarayan Bissa, Badri Das Joshi, Mahendra Vyas, Virendra Kiradu, Rajkumari Vyas, Aarti Acharya, Shivraj Vyas, Senuka Harsh, Suman Ojha, Prem Shankar Ranga, Navratna Vyas, Shashi Vyas, Vijay Bhadani and Vijay Purohit. With 53 stalls placing women’s creativity and enterprise at the centre of the fair and a packed calendar of competitions, cultural programmes and honours, the five-day celebration is set to offer a vibrant reflection of the Pushkarna community’s heritage while creating space for contemporary talent and participation.
